In my opinion, it’s possible to have a stronger, more integrated EU and, in fact, I believe a federal EU would solve a lot of the institutional problems we’ve been having.


We cannot be 27 States shouting at each other, divided over important issues, and slow to reach decisions on those critical issues. We need a federal state to adequately address the challenges posed by globalisation.

For that federal Europe to become a reality, we need institutional reform, but we also need things like this blog. This blog is part of a European public sphere. We need that public sphere. We need European debates to be European debates, not debates about Europe within each Member State.
